HAIRCUT

It’s that time of the year where we bite the bullet and deadhead the lavenders. They’ve been fabulous this year so it’s sad to give them the chop. The bees will be disappointed also. We bought them from a rather grumpy man who was a specialist lavender grower. We told him what we were looking for - long spiked flowers like Kate and Mark in Greece - and he said the best he could would be these but they’d have to be in full sun and even then there were no guarantees. He knew his stuff. We called in a week or so ago but he’s packed up and his greenhouses are surrounded by big fancy houses. His land was too valuable to be a specialist lavender grower. Sad.
